No perusal of male images would be complete without a few minutes given to a shot of Nureyev in the late twentieth century. The photo to the right is one that is recalled anytime either he or dance photography is mentioned.
I don't know the entire history of the shot but recall seeing in it 'After Dark' in the early Seventies. The other photo of him is often spoken of, he appears naked but does not show the hang he was know to lord over others.Dancers don't generally pose in the nude, even partially clad they show the work they have put into their bodies. Their legs and butts are among the most admired you can find.
This is Carlos Acosta of the London Ballet, formerly of the Houston Ballet, born and raised in Cuba. He is definitely not a handsome man, but his body has developed into a work of art from those tremendous leaps and jumps.
This unnamed dancer with theBallet Folklorico de Mexico is another superb examaple of the result of all that practice and work.
